Are these sexy enough for Prince Of Persia, Gemma? Miss Arterton shows off kinky bondage shoes at film premiere in Southampton

A university on a south coast of Britain seems like an odd and unglamorous choice of venue for a film premiere.

And as the leading lady, actress Gemma Arterton knew there was only one way to stand out from the crowd, as she donned a pair of very kinky bondage shoes for the night.

The actress arrived at Southampton University in Hampshire this evening for the world premiere of her new film, The Disappearance Of Alice Creed.

And although she dressed fairly casual in black Aladdin pants, a black blazer and with minimalist jewellery and make-up, it was her killer heels that created a stir, as she posed on the red carpet.

Gemma, 24, stars as Alice Creed in the movie, which is released in the UK on April 30.

She plays a kidnapped millionaire's daughter who is kept bound and gagged in an abandoned apartment.

And the choice of venue for the screening came courtesy of a Facebook campaign to choose a cinema to host the evening, which was won by Southampton University Students' Union.

Gemma stars alongside Scottish actor Martin Compston and Hancock star Eddie Marsan, who play Danny and Vic, two ex-convicts who plan to gain a huge amount of cash on the ransom for Alice.

Alice is terrified at first but gradually enters into a three-way battle of wills with the two kidnappers.

The real deal: The Princess's name has been changed from Farah to Tamina in the movie

Gemma has another film out this year, Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time, an action-adventure fantasy movie, based on the video game of the same name.

But in an interview with Details magazine, she said fans of the video game are unhappy at her casting.

She said: 'I've gotten letters telling me I'm not right for the part because I don't look like the girl in the video game!'

'She really is this sex goddess. They've got massively high standards.'

Gemma plays Princess Tamina in the film alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

It is based on an award-winning videogame of the same name developed by Ubisoft which was released in 2003.

The Princess's name has been changed from Farah to Tamina in the Disney backed movie.

This summer she also stars alongside Sam Worthington as the Greek demi-goddess Io, in the big-screen remake of Clash Of The Titans, and has just finished filming Stephen Frears' Tamara Drewe film which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

But despite her huge workload, Gemma says she is still not a big star.

Ambitious: Gemma wants to make low-budget movies, as well as starring in Hollywood blockbusters

'In America, nobody has any idea who I am or how to pronounce my name. They call me Gim-ma.'

'This is the sort of movie I always imagined I'd end up doing,' she said.

This is the sort of movie I'd go to see in the cinema.'

She told the BBC she didn't mind the lack on luxuries on the set, in the Isle of Man.

'It's basic, there's no frills with this sort of thing - it's refreshing for you when you're involved in the Hollywood machine.'

The film sees Gemma film nude scenes

'I wouldn't get my kit off for just any film,' she told Details magazine.

'On camera I really didn't give a s***, but as soon as they said "Cut!" I was like, "Someone put the dressing gown over me!".'
