Teacher arrested for sex with student in Catalina HS classroom

Just when we were recovering from the arrest of high school teacher Christine Elliot for reportedly having sex with one of her students, yet another local high school teacher was arrested on the same charges.

This time the sexual romps allegedly took place on several occasions in the teacher’s Catalina High School classroom, according to a news release from the Tucson Police Department.

Catalina teacher Thomas Saul, 31, was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center June 5 on five counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of luring a minor for sexual exploitation.

The minor was reportedly one of Saul’s 17-year-old students whose mother found “an inappropriate online conversation of a sexual nature” between her daughter and the teacher.

When the mother confronted her daughter, police say the daughter admitted to being involved in a sexual relationship with Saul.

Detectives conducted a comprehensive investigation that included “a forensic interview” of the girl and more computer evidence that backed up her claims.

In addition to being the things nightmares are made of, the arrests of Saul and Empire High School teacher and cheerleading coach Elliot, 25, share other similarities.

Elliot’s charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and sexual conduct with a minor were for allegedly having sex with one of her underage male students.

Both Saul and Elliot were also busted by electronics, after parents spotted “inappropriate messages” on their children’s computer or cell phone.

What do you think?

Will you be switching your kids to home schooling anytime soon?

Have such teacher-student incidents become more common or are just more people getting caught at it?
